Virtual Accelerated Reading Tracks: Teacher Resources


This page includes the resources needed for assisting your students with the Reading Horizons Accelerated Reading Tracks (these tracks can also used for summer reading). For a complete overview of the program, click here. If you would like to use the software portion of the program (recommended) and you don't currently have access, your school or district will need to speak with your account representative to purchase a software license.

Student Learning Tracks


Once you have software access, use the below information to assign student tracks in both the software and virtual lessons:

Reading Horizons Discovery® | Grades K-3

Eight tracks are available for providing summer or accelerated instruction to this age group. To activate these tracks on the online software, review this guide. To connect students with the correct reading portal and virtual lessons, assign your students to complete the lessons for the grade they just completed, and send them the appropriate link below:

Grades K-3, students new to Reading Horizons this school year

Grades K-3, students with previous Reading Horizons instruction

Reading Horizons Elevate® | Grades 4+

  • Three tracks are available for providing summer or accelerated instruction to students in grades 4+. To activate these tracks on the online software, review this guide. To connect students with the correct virtual lesson track, let students know which track to complete and then send them a link to the summer reading portal for grades 4+. To help you assign the correct track, refer to the descriptions below:

    Track 1: Students with Alphabet Instruction Needs
    This track is for students who are new to Reading Horizons and have gaps in the alphabetic principle.

    Track 2: New Students - No Alphabet
    This track is for students who are new to Reading Horizons but don't need explicit alphabet instruction. A brief review will be covered on Day 1.

    Track 3: Returning Students
    This track is for students who have received previous Reading Horizons instruction. This track will review crucial skills at an accelerated pace for struggling students, students with frequent absences, or to prevent summer or COVID-19 reading loss.
