Because of the complex nature of dyslexia and its frequent coexistence with ADHD, speech and language disorders, and other print-based disabilities such as dysgraphia and dyscalculia, it is important for schools to establish procedures for dyslexia screening and identification. Providing targeted intervention as early as possible is our best hope for improving reading outcomes for the the 8.5 million children with dyslexia in American classrooms.
