January 2017 Reads.

February 1, 2017

My goal was to read 4 books in January and I read exactly 4! Here’s what I read….

The Princess Diarist by Carrie Fisher
Rating: 2/5 stars

I really wanted to like this book since I really like Star Wars, but I just didn’t. Some of the behind the scenes information was interesting, but honestly I just felt like she was rambling a lot. It was also a little sad reading this right after she passed away, especially with some of the comments made in the book. I’ve heard some of her other books are really good, so maybe I’ll try another one sometime.

I Let You Go by Clare Mackintosh
Rating: 5/5 stars

I LOVED this one. It is a thriller/mystery book that starts off with a 5 year-old boy being hit by a car. The car flees the scene and the detectives are left with hardly any clues to track down the car and the driver. This book definitely had a couple of unexpected turns, so I was a big fan of this one.

The Hope Quotient by Ray Johnston
Rating: 5/5 stars

This one was recommended by multiple leaders at our church last year and I finally got around to reading it. It did not disappoint. The author discusses how your level of hope affects every aspect of your life and gives ways of building hope in our personal lives, our careers, our churches, our communities, and around the world. I wished many times while reading it that I had my own copy because I wanted to do a lot of underlining. I definitely recommend this one!

Open Your Heart by Robin Jones Gunn
Rating: 4/5 stars

I’m still traveling down memory lane to read these books I read as a young teenager. Still as corny as ever and I’m still really enjoying them. I’m going to try to finish off this series in February.

Did you read any good books in January??
