Independent Reading Instruction

The Reading Horizons Elevate® Software uses age-appropriate, data-driven instruction to empower older students with the tools and reading strategies to attack the holes in their foundational reading skills. The software, which is part of the more extensive reading curriculum, works to rebuild the motivation and self-esteem of low-level readers by rewarding students for completing achievable and positive goals. Because instruction is completed independently, students don’t have to focus on being embarrassed by their poor reading skills—making them less resistant and more open to learning. 

Differentiate Instruction for Each Student

By responding to built-in assessments, the Reading Horizons Elevate® Software continuously adjusts the pace and content to meet the needs of each individual student. 

When a student shows signs of struggle, the software reviews instruction and offers more practice opportunities; when a student proves proficiency, the software advances to the next skill.

Address a Range of Reading Deficits

The software activities help students build decoding, pronunciation, vocabulary, grammar, fluency, and comprehension  skills. The Reading Horizons Elevate® Students learn reading skills through the interactive Lessons. They practice these skills in the Vocabulary and Pronunciation section. Then they transfer those skills to comprehension tasks in the Library.

Monitor Student Progress

You can easily see where students are succeeding and where they are struggling through the robust assessment system with corresponding reports. Computer-administered assessments diagnose and monitor each student's instructional needs. A student's Lexile® measure is also assessed throughout the course. Through detailed reports, teachers know exactly what each student needs to take the next step toward achievement.

Reinforce Classroom Instruction

When used with the direct instruction materials as part of a reading intervention program, the Reading Horizons Elevate® Software can be used to pre-teach or review lesson material. Students can access the online version from home for further reinforcement.
